My Best Friend's Wedding

Well Melanie Anne Simpson got married today to Anthony (Tony) Hill. It was extravagant, elegant, extraordinary, and all things wonderful. I was so excited to be a part and to have the amazing privilege of being the Matron of Honor. I got my hair done this morning then we got our make-up done at the church. I truly felt pampered. I can't wait to share the pics. It was such a glorious day.

Anyway I wanted to share two new wedding traditions that I want to pass on to anyone who will listen. They are:

1. Wedding Cake Charms- As you are decorating a cake (ours was for the Bridesmaid's Luncheon) you put string on "wedding cake charms" and place them in between the two layers of the cake. They get icing on them, but you don't have to bake them in the cake mix. :) Anyway you get to pick out a string and it has a charm attached. I got the heart with the arrow through it. Then Aunt Katy told us what each charm stood for. Mine meant LOVE STRUCK, appropriate huh?!?

2. The bride received perfume today and scented lotion. The make-up lady gave it to her. She said that you wear it on your wedding day and then on your honeymoon and then not again until your 1st fight or your 1 year anniversary....and that that smell will remind him of these wonderful first few days of marriage.

Cool huh??? Who knew that these two cool things were around all this time....if I'd only known about them 7 years ago. Well I still have lots of memories to cherish about my special day and those I will hold dear for the rest of my life.

I love the perfume idea! I will definitely have to pass that along to my unmarried friends. As for the charms one of my very best friends did this when she got married-luncheon as well. That was over 10 years ago and I have grown my charm braclet since then. This was hands down one of my favorite bridesmaids gifts! Cherish it!

Both of those are awesome ideas. My Mom gave me a charm bracelet a long time ago, and one of the charms was a precious moments boy and girl. The head broke off one of them. So much for sterling silver! And it's a good thing I'm not superstitious!
