Thanks for Nothing Message

Check out this great message from Chad Rowland at Grace Community in Clarksville, TN.

http://www.gcomchurch.com/podcast

We crossed a few of my personal time lines lately.
I was hoping for a baby before Thanksgiving, but no baby- yet.
I was hoping for a baby before my birthday, but no baby- yet.

Some days it's harder to hope than others. Some days it's harder to trust God's plan than others.

Thanks Chad for a great message.

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. (Maybe because it's close to my birthday and I always thought it was a part of my birthday celebration...)
But this year we will be traveling farther than ever to see family.
Needless to say I am even more thankful this year that we get to see family (and eat some good food.)

*Ya'll did you know that in Indiana they make Stuffing instead of Dressing. Who knew??? I gotta go back to Tennessee just to get some dressing. ;) Maybe I should get the recipes too so I can introduce my Indiana friends to some southern style dressing. I tried to explain it to my friends today and just didn't do it justice...

Last night my mom asked me what I wanted for Thanksgiving. Daniel was sitting right beside me and said- Why does she even ask? Can't we just have the same things we always have. My mom said- It's more of a test than an actual suggestion. :) Here was my reply: The standard Turkey and Dressing (not a favorite, but a must have for Turkey Day), Broccoli Casserole- my favorite, Sweet Potato Casserole- a close second, green beans, slaw, and my mom said she'd make crescents this year.

Yumm. I can't wait. Definitely worth an 8 hour drive.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving. Any of you have Thanksgiving favorites that you just have to have to call it Thanksgiving???

Amazing Provision

I am seeing God's provision firsthand.

This past week we've received $250 donations to the adoption fund via this blog!!!

We have a car seat and stroller at our house- thanks to a dear friend!

I got a small raise at work- one of those work here a certain amount of time and you bump up a little, but EVERY little bit helps.

The Lord is good.

**Also this weekend the movers who moved us from Tennessee to Indiana are coming back to our house this weekend. After we moved up here we had some damage to our furniture and some items were ruined forever. We asked about making an insurance claim though their company and were given the run around. We dropped it and just moved on. I went on Yahoo and left a very honest review. Thinking that if I couldn't get any money for the damage at least I could warn others.

We moved the second week of September...

Yesterday I got an email saying the movers were moving someone else to Indiana and would like to see the damage firsthand. That they were upset about the negative reviews I gave. I am interested to see what will come of all this and if this is not another way that God is planning on providing.

Our Last 24 Hours

Whew- what a whirlwind.
24 hours ago I was hanging out after having lunch with Daniel, Ben Lamb (our pastor), Cindy Hall (amazing GP assistant and go to gal), and a couple visiting from out of town. I then came home and went to the YMCA. (Been way too long since I've done that.)
Amazing how quickly my walk went while catching up with a friend.

I came home-
Daniel got home from staff meeting-
We warmed up some dinner.

The phone rang- it said our consultant's name on the caller ID...
COULD THIS BE THEEEE CALL???

I really wasn't thinking that, I mean she does call and tell me other things...who am I kidding- every time she calls I think that...

She said she'd just heard about a situation where the baby boy (1/2 African American 1/2 Hispanic) had been born on Friday. The birthmom had already signed and gone home, but the family the birthmom matched with decided not to stay matched with him because he has pneumonia. (that's a whole other blog post...) So my heart was stirring for this little fella who is fighting pneumonia all by himself in a hospital in Utah.

Then she told me his fees---they were 3 times the amount of money we have on hand. ugh. I knew better than to let money stand in our way- I know that our God is capable of providing. I knew that if he was meant to be our son it would happen.

Daniel and I got off the phone. Daniel ate dinner- I couldn't...and then we prayed. (I cried and we prayed some more.)

We asked her to find out from the agency if they would accept a payment plan- We asked if they would take a discount considering the circumstances.
And we waited.

I was pretty useless...I did do some laundry in case we needed to head to Utah today...but other than that I needed some distractions, but there were none.

As I was headed to bed I resigned myself to the fact that it probably wasn't going to happen. I was trusting the Lord to work it out, but still realizing that it probably wasn't going to happen. I sat there amazed at what a whirlwind I had just been a part of. I sat there amazed and what a steady calm my Lord provides.

So this morning I called to check in with our consultant and found out that the agency would not accept a payment plan...we got our answer- no.

I am now praying for that little fella and for his forever family. That they can be matched quickly so that he can get the love and support he needs to recover from this sickness.

Could this be Adoption Nesting?

Could this be considered Adoption Nesting???
Our consultant is keeping us in mind for last minute cases- some we might find out the baby has been born, would be born in a couple of days or the birthmom is going to be induced in a week max. This feels so much better emotionally since the last match fell through.

But I'm a planner. How does a planner prepare for a phone call from an agency saying there is a baby- come quickly?

Here's how-
1. Give a key to our house to someone well trusted and loved by Suzy (our dog.)
2. Clean clean clean and prepare the house for baby's arrival...we still don't have a crib and the car seat/stroller is on it's way, but we'll be fine.
3. Make preparations to pay for the adoption at a moments notice...still working on that one, but trusting that God has it all figured out!
4. Run errands and tie up lose ends just in case you are busy tomorrow traveling across the country to pick up your child.
5. Pack toiletries- can't pack clothes yet, because we don't know what part of the country we might be traveling to (could need warm weather clothes or cold weather clothes.)

ISN'T THAT EXCITING! We have no idea when we will get the call or how much time we will have to prepare, but I am getting excited and thinking about all the things that need to be done.

So here we go- let the "adoption nesting" begin.
