Not much going on

I'm so glad to be home for awhile, but don't really have a lot going on. That was on purpose. Here are some random thoughts:

*Cleaning the house takes way too long when you don't have an end goal in mind and you begin organizing and de-cluttering while cleaning.

*I got to take my grandmother to the Dr. on Tuesday and spent the day with her. We had lots of fun.

*Got to go eat lunch yesterday at Blondie's with Holly, my BFF from college- luckily she had a business meeting in Clarksville. We got to hang out and catch up. Lots of fun!!!

*Took Daniel to the airport and dropped him off- he immediately called and said that his flight was delayed 3 hours. (he did arrive safely, but has to be up this morning for a radio interview- they play this afternoon in Austin and will be back tonight.)

*I headed to Opry Mills and walked around- I didn't buy a thing, but got to visit with some friends from church- the Grahams!!! They were waiting to pick someone up from the airport whose plane was also 3 hours late...

*Other than that not much is going on, but I'm so thankful for that!

Rewind

I finally got pictures from a couple of weekends ago onto my computer...so here's some fun pics from our trip to Louisville, KY for the 4th of July weekend.

Daniel and I posing.....I do love that guy!!!

And a must stop if you ever go to Louisville and like dessert......we made dessert a meal at this place. yummm.

Daniel got the apple pie with caramel icing on top with cinnamon ice cream and I got a perfect yellow cupcake with chocolate icing on all sides- like a little mini cake and vanilla ice cream. yumm.

It was a really cute place too, and who could resist a whole restaurant dedicated to Pies and Cakes!!!

Hostess with the Mostess Award

I made it home safe from Dallas, TX w/ the trailer!!! I decided to call Deborah (Daniel's sister) and see if she wanted to eat dinner in Jackson, TN. She lives about 15-20 minutes away from I-40 so I thought I'd see if she could meet me- and I needed a break from driving.

*We left the camp in Oklahoma at 6am and drove to Dallas (due south) for 3 hours- thankfully Bryan drove from the camp to the airport- then I dropped the guys off and started heading home. My GPS said I'd be home by 8pm....welllllll that doesn't count lunch stops and potty breaks, so I made it to meet Deb for dinner at 6pm....not bad since she only live 2.5 hours from Clarksville. I was so excited though when she asked if I could spend the night. I had not seen her new house yet- she lives with a friend and fellow teacher in Milan named Ashley. I was so grateful, and stopping there for the night sounded glorious.

You know some of those people who have all kinds of nice things and when you go to their house you are instantly jealous...well Deborah is that girl. She has the coolest stuff- a coffee maker that makes one cup at a time, Lock-n-Lock tupperware, a aluminum foil container, a pineapple peeler, fun plates and cups that match, cute decor, great sheets on the guest bed, etc. Everything she has is very practical and gets used often, she knows what she likes and then gets good use out of it. I think I'll like something and use it only to get it and leave it on the shelf till it's time for a yard sale....

I was blown away at what a great host she was- entertaining is definitely her forte. I mean I shouldn't be surprised she is so thoughtful. We stayed up late and chatted then we got to sleep late- we had brunch and it was amazing- they have one of those cool waffle irons where you flip the waffle over. It was great- crunchy and fluffy all at the same time. We also had sausage and bacon. It's the best breakfast I've had in a really long time. *And did I mention this was a spur of the moment stop.....it's not like she had time to get all the good stuff together because a guest was coming.

I love Deborah and I wish she lived closer, but since she doesn't I get to go visit and be completely pampered. So Deborah gets the award for being the Hostess with the Mostess!
I love you Deb and thank you!

Last week of camp

Today is the last day of camp for the summer. We've had three great weeks of camp this summer, but it will be good to be home. Maybe I can update my blog more when I get home. :)
Tomorrow I get the privilege of driving the trailblazer and trailer home (all 10.5 hours) by myself after dropping the boy off at the airport for their next gig in Florida. I have no pressure to get home quickly and can stop any time I need to, so it shouldn't be that bad.

Weekend Get-a-way

I know we haven't been home much this summer, but I'm so excited about our little weekend get-a-way.

Duke and Amanda Boles moved to Ohio to help plant a church....they just happened to move while we were out of town. I was very sad about this, but I think it was God sparing me massive amounts of tears- Amanda has been in the best friend category since 7th grade. Even the day they honored them at church we were gone (thank you Lord for saving me from the ugly cry in public.) We did get to say our sort-of goodbyes- declaring that we were going to be friends forever and visit often. (cheesy I know)

Sooo I tried to convince them to come to Joe and Kari's wedding last weekend. Amanda has this thing for wedding cake, so I think she considered it. It would have been straight down I-75 for them, but it still would have been a long way (they were invited- so don't think I was breaking any wedding laws.)

Since that didn't work out we decided to try for this weekend. We are going to meet closer to 1/2 way- in Louisville, KY and hang out Friday and Saturday. They are having a festival there and will have fireworks tomorrow night. I'm very excited. Even better when we found out that Melanie and Tony could come too- they live in Murfreesboro, TN so we don't get to hang out with them much either. Yea to a fun weekend and to the 4th of July!

Joe and Kari's Wedding

Here are some pics from Joe and Kari's wedding this past Saturday.

Daniel and I right after the outdoor wedding....I tried to coordinate with the brown since I was one of the people who stood at the guest registry.

Cassi (Bryan- the bass player's wife) and I...Cassi was a bridesmaid so you can see what their dresses looked like. Very pretty!!! And the sunflower bouquets set them off beautifully!

Bryan and Daniel- Bryan was a groomsman and Daniel and Derek got to be ushers. Very nice, very nice. I love those big smiles.

Derek and Holly- Holly also stood with me and helped pass out programs.

The HAPPY COUPLE: JOE AND KARI STEVENS!!!!
Joe's tux was also brown and looked so nice- by this time he's taken the jacket off and is ready to dance.

After everyone came in it began to rain- we were all glad the reception was inside. :)

Beautiful cake- see how gorgeous the sunflowers are with the brown....and it was sooooo good.

And of course- a drum cake for Joe. Would anyone have imagined anything else? Of course the food was excellent at the reception- Joe's 2nd favorite thing to do besides drumming has to be dealing with food. Making it, preparing it, experimenting with it, and of course EATING IT. He is the best cook ever and so all the reception food had to be up to his standard. And boy was it good....yumm.
