World's Collide

Yesterday was such a great day. I went to church with an old friend Leslie. I had not seen her in a really long time, but now she is a Freshman at APSU (our local college). She moved from her home town, where Daniel and I lived about 6 years ago. When we were there she was in middle school and Daniel was the Music and Youth Minister. She was very active in the youth group. I also student taught in McKenzie, then filled a long term leave for a teacher and taught Leslie in the 6th grade. So now she walks in as a grown up and instantly I felt my world's collide. It was so much fun to see her again and to catch up a little bit and to introduce her to our new church.

Then immediately after church we went to the BCM in Memphis w/ the Daniel Doss Band. Lots of college student were there mingling and introducing new friends. I ended up standing by one girl who was alone so I started the random college conversation question with her....1. what is your major? 2. what year are you? 3. where are you from? (MARTIN, TN). Then she said, "I'M ZOE!" I THINK I SCREAMED! My first year of teaching was at Sharon School and I taught PE, Library, and Health. Zoe was one of my students!!!! She was in 7th grade then, but is a beautiful grown woman now starting her first year at the University of Memphis. She always had a spark in her that made things fun. I was pretty hard on her, and was definitely a terrible first year teacher, but it was great to see her again, I was blown away as yet again I saw my world's collide.

Mimi's Cafe and The World Market

Yesterday we made the trek to Murfressboro. We ended up eating at Mimi's Cafe which was excellent and it wasn't even breakfast. They kept raving about their own breakfast and I thought it would be great, but was completely happy that we made it for dinner since I'm generally not a big fan of breakfasty foods. I had a delicious Chicken Pot Pie and Daniel and I shared a yummy Chocolate Chip Pecan dessert! A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!

Then we went to the World Market. Humm. Let me just say that I thought it was going to be a grocery store...kinda like a Wild Oat's or a Trader Joe's. I was MISTAKEN! It was way more exciting. With lots of variety and enticing items everyone should go there at least once. Daniel got some fabulous coffee. He makes the most amazing coffee. (Thank you Daniel!)

And I got a gift for my mom for her birthday. I kept thinking I have to go back closer to Christmas because they have such unique things for those people you don't know what in the world to get them, but you know they are going to get you a gift...speaking of gifts I also love the idea of the World Vision catalog. Where you can get gifts in honor of someone.

I'm a Fran fan!

Yesterday I got to travel to San Angelo, TX with Francesca Battistelli.
We were to leave Nashville at 8:40 am and go through Dallas and land in San Angelo by 2pm. Her show started at 7pm last night so we would have plenty of time right?!?

WELLLL...

We got to the airport to find out our flight was delayed which meant that we would miss our connection....

We ended up arriving in San Angelo around 5:50 pm; the doors were supposed to open at 6pm for the concert. YIKES!!!

She did a super quick sound check and I made sure the merch was set up while she finished getting ready.

By 7pm when the concert was supposed to start we were ready to roll.

Franny did a great job! She did not have the best circumstances or adequate time to prepare, but she did extraordinary. She was a real trooper. I was proud to be with such a respectable artist. Some would have complained or used the events of the day as excuses, but she didn't.

Just in case you didn't notice: I'm definitely a Fran fan!

New Blog Design

Soooo how do you like it???

I decided that I'd look for a new blog design and see how easy it was to do and wow. I'm so impressed with myself. HA! (Web 2.0 Savvy or what?!?)
I found free designs at http://lenatoewsdesigns.blogspot.com/ thanks to Glenna' Blog where she had used one too.

It's so much more fun than the plain old blogspot one. I'm loving it so far. :)

****And this re-design is in honor of all the hits I got yesterday. I had over 40 hits in one day! Yippee!!!

Pampered Chef Party!!!

My good friend from Grace Community had a Pampered Chef Party tonight. She also had a really cool quesadilla maker (not pampered chef, but still a HIT!) It was sooo good! It's fun to meet new people. Everyone knew Teresa so we all had something in common, and most of us go to the same church, but we didn't all know each other before tonight. I had a lot of fun and the food was excellent.

And we all got to do our share of helping with the fun gadgets that you can get from Pampered Chef. I L.O.V.E PAMPERED CHEF! I have lots of stuff from them because of a Pampered Bride shower I had many moons ago. But of course they have lots of new stuff that was very enticing.

I ended up getting one thing for me and one thing for a friend, but I can now add a few things to my Christmas wish list. Ha!

*I went looking for my camera to post some pics, but I think I left it at her house. man I really wanted to post some pics.....oh well. I'm trying to be better about taking my camera with me- guess I need to be better about making sure it comes home with me too. :)

Yummy new snack

Thanks to Jamie (who has a great blog) for this wonderful snack idea a few weeks ago. I finally got around to trying it this week. YUMM! She had it for breakfast, but I enjoyed it for a snack....I think I'll have to go get some right now!

First I started with a couple of spoonfuls of yogurt in the bowl. I used the Stonyfield Farms fat free French Vanilla.

Then sprinkled in some Low Fat Granola.

Then I sliced up a banana and added that.

Then I sliced up some strawberries.

At last I topped it off with some mini chocolate chips.

What a special treat! YUMMM!!!

Exciting news....and it involves a baby.....

Daniel and I have some exciting news....and no we're not pregnant.

We have been married 8 years. Some of you my have heard him share our story when he sings the song Hold On. He's only shared it a few times, but sometimes I still think our infertility is still a secret. We have wanted to have children for about 4 1/2 years now.....that's over 1/2 of our marriage.....we have been to special doctors and kept our hopes up and struggled when our hopes have been dashed. So for now we are taking a different road. We are going to begin the adoption process!!!!

We don't know what that will look like, but we are gathering information and spreading the word. We believe this is God's timing for us to walk down this road. We know it may take a long time, or could happen quickly. We are trusting God and His wisdom. He has definitely proven faithful when we have struggled with the pain of infertility. But He holds us as we struggle with the fact that life doesn't always turn out as we had hoped.

We are thrilled to think about the idea that He has picked out our children and we believe that we will someday be parents. Please pray for us and for birth mothers out there who may be considering adoption. :)
Thanks,
Emily

Back from VACATION

We are back!!! Refreshed and ready to roll. We had a great time....in Jamacia....and I still have Reggae tunes running through my head. Here are some of my favorite pics.

Outside our room ready for dinner.

Melanie and Tony Hill came with us and we had lots of fun hanging out.

Dinner the last night.

The last night we ate at a Japanese restaurant and it was great. We had lots of fun with the cook Shorne....not Shawn....yeah! He liked to sing while he cooked- and made us sing for our supper.

*My favorite thing to do was Snorkeling. I LOVED it! Poor Daniel couldn't regress from his musical training that has taught him to breathe through his nose and mouth at the same time.

It's good to be home. I have a list of things to do and one of them consists of finding a job. I'm going to be going the substitute teaching route for now, but am also keeping my eyes and ears open for something (anything) that is out there. Any type of secretary/receptionist position maybe....so if any of you know of any job openings out there (in Clarksville) keep me in mind. :)

Emily

Things that made me HAPPY this week

Lori gave the the idea for this post. You should try it too. :)

Watching God do AMAZING things in the lives of your best friends.

Beth Moore Bible Study on Monday night...very challenging....lots of tears. I love that women need each other and understand each other.

A mopped kitchen floor and a cleaned out laundry room. So nice!!!

Dinner with Daniel and my dad and then bowling at the Pinnacle.

So You Think You Can Dance- we know who is going to the finals!!! Such a good season.

Squash for dinner- thanks to my sister-in-law who put the idea in my head and to Teresa who at the last minute told me what to do....it was so good. *My first time to cook squash by itself and not in a casserole....won't be the last.

A Job Opportunity- Traveling with Francesca Battistelli as her road manager for two weekends in August! So looking forward to this.

Listening to Daniel c0-write songs at our house then getting to hear the finished product.

Vacation outfits are picked out and we head out on MONDAY!!!

And hopefully to be added to the list this afternoon a marvelous hair-cut. This afternoon I'm headed to get a haircut- I love hair-cut days!!!
