Valentines Day on a Budget

This year we tried not to spend a lot of money on Valentines, but still make it special. My request was a caramel apple, Daniel's was Starbucks coffee to have at home.

Apparently my request was a little harder than I anticipated. We had seen caramel apples at Wal-mart a couple of weeks ago, but the week before Valentine's Day they vanished. Daniel went to Wal-mart, Food Lion, Kroger, Dollar General Market, and Target without finding one single caramel apple or caramel apple kit. He even researched it online.
So here's what he did....he created a homemade caramel apple factory to have ready for me when I got home from subbing.

The finished product was amazing!
It was as good as Mrs. Prindable's if I do say so myself.

God's little gift to my overcommitment

I had totally over-committed today! I had decided not to sub today because I'm already lined up to sub 4 days this week. I'm subbing so I have flexibility to my schedule (mainly to travel with Daniel and the band). So far I've NEVER subbed 5 days in one week. I've subbed in the same classroom the past two days and gotten to know these kidos. I thought their teacher was coming back today, but she is still sick. I found the job posted online, and took it. I felt like I had to for the kids. I forgot however that I'd already committed to: 1. The bug lady coming at 10am (I know how silly is it to have the bug lady come in the dead of winter, but she' come quarterly so today was her day.) 2. After lunch drop off donations-one of those times when you have just a window of time to drop off. 3. A hair cut at 3:30pm. (I do love haircut day- it makes me feel so pampered and wonderful when I leave. It helps that I have a WONDERFUL hairdresser.)
So I was going to go to school and drop off the donations after school and reschedule my hair appt. (sad day) But this morning God gave me a little gift! A SNOW DAY!!! Yippee!!!
Hopefully I can get everything in now!

In Denial?!?

I think I'm in denial that I'm getting older. Don't get me wrong...I love the experience life is giving me and I love how old I am, but there are some things that have taken me by surprise lately.

1. It's time to plan our 10 year reunion.
2. We own a house, have two cars, and a dog.
3. Daniel and I have been married 7 1/2 years!
4. I have adult responsibilities and am able to complete them.
5. THE KARATE KID JUST CAME ON AMC!

**that's the real reason I made this post- Karate Kid is now a classic. WOW-that kinda blew me away! That means I'm a grown up! I wish I had caught it from the beginning so I could have recorded it. It was a fav. of mine growing up.

What were some of your fav. movies that are now classics?

Electricity out???

This past Saturday night Daniel and the guys were rehearsing in the basement. Joe came up to go to the bathroom when the lights went out downstairs and in the bathroom. (poor Joe) Anyway I noticed that the lights were not out in the kitchen so I immediately went to the breaker box and found the breaker that had flipped and flipped it back on. The funny thing was that the guys were in the basement thinking that the electricity was out and they got out a flashlight and just waited for the electricity to come back on. Daniel said later that he figured the whole neighborhood's power had gone out. Glad I was able to come to the rescue and allow them to keep rehearsing instead of them just waiting around all night for the electricity to come back on.

I LOVE MY CHURCH

We had a great Sunday today and I was able to connect with so many people. I'm not volunteering as a children's ministry teacher anymore, but I'm moving into a volunteer encourager role in the children's area and helping get new people plugged in. This is a job I can hopefully continue as we venture out on the road of touring and concerts.

It is such a joy to be anxious to go to church and to visit with the people after the services. I love love love it!

We missed last week due to traveling with the Daniel Doss Band and I'm starting to realize how much I'm going to miss being away from our home church. Hopefully we won't have to be gone too often.

**I hope you find yourself in a place where you love the church you are a part of. If not search out a place where you can be challenged to grow and become who God wants you to be.
