It's All About Him

Have you heard about Alan Jackson's wife Denise??? She's written a book It's All About Him Finding the Love of my Life. I've seen her on two morning shows this week promoting the book. It's so exciting to see her say on national television that a relationship with God saved her marriage. At her lowest point she found that the creator loved her and that HE was the love of her life. A little bit of me says that maybe the whole reason for Alan Jackson's success was for him to now be pointing others to Christ. He has a huge audience and has now written a song to go along with the book. I pray that others will read this book and be able to begin a personal relationship with Jesus. I can't wait to read it.

Home Sweet Home Again

So we're home. The true mark of that was that we went to Wal-mart and bought real groceries, not just enough for one or two meals and 1/2 a gallon of milk. We've been traveling so much this summer that I've missed cooking and eating healthy. When I'm in charge I know I can make things taste good and be good for us. It's much easier for me to make healthy choices in the grocery store than it is in a restaurant.

My fav. healthy meals that I'm been missing:
Spaghetti with whole grain noodles and turkey meat sauce
Turkey Burgers on whole grain buns
Sandwiches (Cheers to Amanda for best built sandwich at the beach)
Chicken strips salad

***sorry for writing a whole blog about grocery shopping, but I was so excited to be home and get to do this. Isn't it funny that even the normal things can be exciting when you haven't done them in awhile.

iChat

iChat is the coolest thing I've ever seen. Daniel is in Tennessee and I'm in Florida and I've been able to see his face everyday. Our new mac books have cameras and iChat, which is so easy to use it's like instant messenger with a video. Maybe this has been easy to do for years, but we just found out about it. So if you are away from your loved ones very often I totally suggest some iChat/video so you can see your loved one face to face via internet!!!

Home Sweet Home

It's so good to be home. God has blessed us with a beautiful house. We've been gone to a church camp in Oklahoma this past week. It was a long week, but tons of fun. The students were from Dallas, TX and there were about 300 students there. The camp was very well organized and it reminded me of Hillmont where we used to go to camp. The facilities were great as well. Apparently a youth minister built the place since he didn't have a place to take his youth to camp. It was very well thought out. It was beautiful and I was very impressed by Oklahoma since I'd never been there before. After 11 hours in a car on the way home I was so glad to be home. **I do have to say that the Daniel Doss Band is so much fun to be around that it made the trip go by pretty fast.**

I love love love coming home to a clean, straight house. It makes the transition of unpacking (and in my case this week re-packing) go so much smoother. I was so glad that before we left I got to get things in order. I'm so glad to be home and to be able to go to Grace Community Church tomorrow.

Websites anyone?

Does anyone want to suggest any web sites that they frequent?
I've gotten a new computer and am pretty much addicted!!!
But I'd like to broaden my horizons and check out some other websites. I seem to go to the same ones over and over and over again....

A friend suggested http://del.icio.us/ so you might want to check that one out. But I'd love some other suggestions.

thanks,
Emily

My New Job

I just found out last week that I'll be the World Vision Tour Representative when we go on with Avalon. That means I'm in charge of training all the World Vision volunteers for the concerts each night and setting up the World Vision Table. I'm pretty pumped about it.

You can check out their web site at www.worldvision.org (I don't know how to make that link work inside the blog, someone needs to teach me how to do that.)
I was amazed to find out how much they do. I feel so honored to work for an organization of integrity and one that is so efficient. They only have 13% overhead costs and the rest goes to the children/communities.

Some of you remember two years ago when we started Grace Community Church we had a ladies Bible Study that met at Kelly Bullock's house. We went around the room and dreamed about how we'd like to serve at Grace. I said that I wanted to find a way to get money from the wealthy and give to the poor. I wanted to be the vessel to do that, but didn't know how and just figured that it would be through the local church.
Isn't it amazing how God blows our dreams out of the water. Each night we are on tour I'll be used as the vessel to transfer wealth from those who sign up to pledge a child to the child themselves by way of an amazing organization called World Vision.

Seeing the videos and learning about this organization made me want to take a look at our family and see what we are actually doing to spread the gospel through love by meeting needs.
So I pose the question what are you doing to transform lives?

Sorry this was such a long post. (can you tell I'm excited that I have a new job!)
