Why I teach...
Yesterday at school I saw a problem student light up. I've never seen a spark so clearly and a passion for something. You see yesterday we played Gotcha (a basketball game). He is a new student and claims to have gotten in tons of trouble at his old school...like that is something to be proud of...he's been pretty good for me, but hasn't really let the chip on his shoulder be lifted until yesterday. When we played Gotcha he did great and I saw an enjoyment in his eyes. He was very talented and I began to pray for the opportunities he would face in the future. I prayed that he'd come in contact with people who would point him to Jesus and that he would recieve guidance for the tough decisions he will face in the future. I don't teach at a school where it's easy to make the right decisions; I don't teach at a school where the children have every want or whim provided for them; I don't teach at a school where Jesus is preached out loud every day. But I do teach at a school where I am a light, where there is hope for their future, and where we have great academic success. At church in the children's ministry (called Cross Street) we constantly tell the children to: MAKE THE WISE CHOICE. I've been trying to incorporate that saying at school and repeat it frequently. That is something that has been great for me as well. At certain times I'll think....am I making the wise choice? Hmmm.
What to BLOG about???
So now through out my day I think...I'm gonna blog about that....but then the day goes by and I forget or get to busy to take the time to type it out....but here are a couple of the things I said (to myself) that I was going to blog about.
1. Last week was spring break and we went to Opry Mills to shop (for shorts in cold weather)....we went to Gap (my fav. pants/shorts store) and I got a few different varieties to try on....the young lady at the dressing room said, "Is that your boyfriend?" (Referring to Daniel, who was following me around.) I said politely, "He's my husband." She said, "Well he can go in with you if you want." I was definitely under the impression that he could have just as easily come in if he was my boyfriend or if he was my husband. This made me go huh....I'm gonna blog about that....I was kinda blown away by her approval of just anyone going into the dressing room with just anyone else. huh. What do you say? Needless to say Daniel stayed out there and waited as I tried on each piece and showed him the things I liked and didn't like. He's such a good sport. :)
2. So a couple of weeks ago Chad, one of our pastors at Grace Community told me that I probably didn't offend many people....well Chad sorry to inform you but someone suffered road rage because of me and flipped me off....FLIPPED ME OFF! I think she even said it out loud as she made the motion. It was totally her fault and I was simply driving by when she put her blinker on and swerved into my lane; she quickly swerved back when she realized I was continuing in forward motion and would have hit her. Soooo because I didn't get out of her way....I got the bird. Once again huh...

Weddings weddings everywhere
Today I recieved a wedding invitation in the mail, Monday Daniel and I met with a couple we are doing marriage counseling with, this past weekend I got an invitation to a shower from a high school friend that I did not even know was engaged. Why do weddings excite us so much as ladies???
Maybe I can enjoy weddings because I have such an amazing marriage. I remember our wedding day was so wonderful. Seven years later...yes I said SEVEN....we have an amazing marriage. That one day was just the beginning. Weddings are great and wonderful and a celebration, but they are also a starting point. I'm sure that is hard for the bride to hear who is knee deep in planning, I remember thinking if we just make it to the honeymoon we'll be fine. Looking back that was so fun, but our love has grown so much. I wouldn't take anything for what we have now. Daniel asked me recently if marriage was as good as I expected it to be. Hmmmmm. My response was that I never imagined it'd be this amazing. This week is my spring break so we've had lots of time to just hang out and relax. It's been so much fun and I can't say enough that we have such a wonderful marriage. May 27th will be our 7th anniversary and that is so crazy to me. What fun we've had and I pray that all my friends get to experience this same amazing love.
