My Best Friend's Wedding

Well Melanie Anne Simpson got married today to Anthony (Tony) Hill. It was extravagant, elegant, extraordinary, and all things wonderful. I was so excited to be a part and to have the amazing privilege of being the Matron of Honor. I got my hair done this morning then we got our make-up done at the church. I truly felt pampered. I can't wait to share the pics. It was such a glorious day.

Anyway I wanted to share two new wedding traditions that I want to pass on to anyone who will listen. They are:

1. Wedding Cake Charms- As you are decorating a cake (ours was for the Bridesmaid's Luncheon) you put string on "wedding cake charms" and place them in between the two layers of the cake. They get icing on them, but you don't have to bake them in the cake mix. :) Anyway you get to pick out a string and it has a charm attached. I got the heart with the arrow through it. Then Aunt Katy told us what each charm stood for. Mine meant LOVE STRUCK, appropriate huh?!?

2. The bride received perfume today and scented lotion. The make-up lady gave it to her. She said that you wear it on your wedding day and then on your honeymoon and then not again until your 1st fight or your 1 year anniversary....and that that smell will remind him of these wonderful first few days of marriage.

Cool huh??? Who knew that these two cool things were around all this time....if I'd only known about them 7 years ago. Well I still have lots of memories to cherish about my special day and those I will hold dear for the rest of my life.

Daniel said, "Man that's Good!" (about Cauliflower)

I've NEVER heard that before regarding a veggie.
Here are a couple of my new favorite recipes:

Stuffed Mushrooms-
get a tub of Alouette Cheese (garlic and herb)- that is a spreadable cheese and is in the specialty cheese section.
Wash out the mushrooms and get the stems out.
Fill them with a spoon full of cheese, top with ritz cracker crumbs and bake-
the real directions are on the Alouette Cheese container- I think it's 12 minutes on 350, but I'm not positive.

Then with the left over cheese....
cook some cauliflower (just the pieces) - I boiled them, then smash them like potatoes. add the left over cheese. Yes that is what got the Man that's Good response from Daniel. He doesn't say that very often when it comes to veggies so I wanted to share it with everyone to enjoy. :)

Wiiiiiiiii

Yesterday was Daniel's birthday and yes he got a Wii!!!! It is soooo cool. It came with some games and you can really get up and move to some of them. Anyway the guy that helped me buy it and get everything I needed suggested a points card where you can go online and download older games. Let me just tell you that that was the part I was so excited about. I was immediately thinking Super Mario Brothers, Tetris, ect. So I bring it home and surprise Daniel, he was thrilled!!! Anyway we played the games that help you know how to hold the controller and stuff like that, but then we downloaded Super Mario Brothers. You see if you hold the Wii remote sideways it looks just like an old school Nintendo remote. My THUMB HURTS, I've played so much. It was crazy to play that game and somehow just remember where to jump and where the hidden mushrooms were and where the warp zones were, and the magic vines that take you to the sky. Boy it took me back. My friend was teasing me about splurging on this gaming system just so I could play the old school games. They definitely knew what they were doing in marketing to us "old school" gamers. :)

Running Slump

I've been running...I had gotten the couch to 5K plan off the internet. I got to the 3 minute part then added my own to the regimen. 3 minutes jogging 1.5 minutes walking, repeat. I had been doing that, but for some reason I could not get over the fact that I was about to have to run for 5 minutes straight. That's when I got sick. I think it's allergies. So with that being said I haven't run at all this week. bummer.
I hope that simply by posting this I will feel some inspiration and I can get back out there and run some more. I just need a little boost to get over this running slump.
